A flood is an overflowing of water onto land that is normally dry.

What It Does

Floods bring a large excess of water to unexpected areas and can cause a lot of damage/destruction.

Be Prepared

In the event of a flood or flash flood make sure you have an escape route and a plan to act on. Move to higher ground away from rivers, streams, creeks, and storm drains. Do not drive around barricades since they are there for your safety. If your car stalls in rapidly rising waters, abandon it immediately and climb to higher ground. Stay tuned to storm warnings and follow the instructions of the emergency alert system.
